Intuitive Learning Systems dba as Valley Center Stage is a not-for-profit theater arts organization devoted to igniting the spontaneous creative spirit that exists in all people. Our performances, public classes and customized workshops invite people of every age and background to explore the joy and the intuitive power of improvisation as conceived and structured by Viola Spolin.

Who is Viola Spolin: Acting for the theater evolves naturally out of playing. Recognizing this source of energy, famed educator/director/teacher Viola Spolin (regarded as the mother of American improvisation) applied the game form to theater disciplines and arrived at her widely acclaimed Spolin Theater Games technique.

About the Theater

The Valley Center Stage (formerly The Unity Theatre) is in its fifth year of presenting Improv & Variety shows, plays and special events.

Unity Theater brought a lot of different groups to North Bend: We presented the Edge Improv troupe from Bainbridge Island, James and his Marionettes, the incomparable trumpet of Harley Brumbaugh, belly dancer Aleli, The Brothers from Different Mothers comedy jugglers, Steve the Pretty Good (a really good magician) the all female trio A-Capella-Go, the Jerboa Dance company, Scotty Walsh escape artist and magician, Gary Schwartz as Ed Wynn, and musical satirist Dr. Andrew Shields, the Cascade Jazz Trio (who regularly plays at our theater)

The theatre has also presented jazz and folk concerts... improvisational comedy... poetry readings... informal stagings of new works... and many other special events. In all, there are more than 20 performances each year.
